San Diego Police Department detectives are investigating the apparent drowning deaths of a family of four today, in the Bay Terraces neighborhood, in the Skyline district of America’s finest city.(Source)

Police officer Frank Cali says the four were discovered at about 6:40 a.m. at a house in the Bay Terraces neighborhood, and although their names are being withheld, relatives who rushed to the scene identified the victims to be Alfredo and Georgina Pimienta and their daughters Priscilla , a 17-year-old senior at High Tech High, and Emily, a 7- year-old little girl.(Source)

Police Lt. Ernie Herbert said the bodies of a man and two females were found in the backyard pool and the fourth person, the mother, was found dead in a bathtub inside.(Source)

All four appeared to have been drowned,and the police Homicide unit is investigating it as a mass murder/suicide.

Sadly,Priscilla was to graduate from High Tech High school on June 25, and was scheduled to begin attending Sonoma State University and study biology, and was excited and looking forward to going to her senior prom this weekend.…she had a bright future, and a lot to look forward to.(Source)

Neighbors in the close-knit, low to middle class, diverse community are all in shock, as no one recognized anything abnormal in the families behavior.

In fact, witnesses at the scene expressed to the media that the family was very close, and warm with each other.

Those close to the family said that they were not aware of any problems occurring with the closely bonded family, so this mass murder/suicide of all of them is a mystery,but it has been confirmed that the families towing business may have been failing, but there is no proof of any financial distress.(KTLA)

(High Tech High School Students Mourn The Death Of Priscilla Pimienta)

Marlon Soriano, who lives two doors away, said the family had been renting the home for a year or two. They hosted pool parties for relatives in the summer.

“They were a really close family,” he said.(Huffpo)

According to local San Diego Fire and Rescue call worker…

“Our fire dispatch personnel received a call from the sheriff’s department. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department had gotten a cell phone call from somebody reporting that there might be a couple of people in a pool that were drowning or have drowned,” Maurice Luque, spokesman for San Diego Fire-Rescue, said.

“They found an adult male and female in the pool along with a child. All had drowned. There was another person found in a bathtub in the house that had drowned,” Luque said

Authorities don’t know who placed the call, but he said it came from an area code that is not local to San Diego.

A relative went to the home on a cul-de-sac off Parkbrook Street at the request of the male resident “to discuss business,when  he saw two bodies in the backyard swimming pool and called 911 about 6:40 a.m.(NPR)

This afternoon, after processing the home for evidence and interviewing family members, homicide detectives found evidence indicating the deaths were a result of murder and suicide, investigators said.

The motive has not been determined and a suspect has not been identified, he said,but they are certain that the suspect committed suicide.

Autopsies will be performed by the Medical Examiner’s Office to come to a final determination.

***UPDATE: The father left a note at the scene, and reports are stating that he weighted himself down in the pool in order to drown himself, after killing his daughters.
