Academy winning rapist,songwriter and director Joseph Brooks,73,was found dead Sunday of an apparent suicide in his Manhattan apartment, as reported by the New York police  department spokesperson.(Huffpo)

Brooks, who won the Oscar in 1977 for composing Debby Boone’s recording of “You Light Up My Life”, was out on bail  in his Manhattan apartment,  facing charges on 11 alleged rapes and sex assaults, did in fact take his own life,New York Police Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said.(CNN)

A friend with whom he had planned to have lunch with in the afternoon, discovered his body inside his apartment at around 12:30pm,on Sunday afternoon.(CBS)

Police report that the friend found the body inside with a plastic dry cleaning bag and a towel  wrapped around his sexually assaulting head, with a tube connected to a helium tank.(E!)

A suicide note was also found nearby, which the dead rapist left behind, but the contents of which have not been released to the media.

Ironically,the accused rapist has a son, Nicholas Brooks,24,who was arrested and charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend,swimsuit designer Sylvie Cachay, 33, whom he is accused of killing at a swank hotel in New York,five months ago, in December.(Source)

Brooks allegedly seduced the women through Craigslist Web postings and lured them to his East 63rd Street apartment with promises of parts in his next movie,after bragging about his Oscar, and showing it to them, allowing the unsuspecting woman to hold it.(Source)

He would then proceed to sexually assaulted them after making them a drink apparently laced with a date rape drug, rendering them helpless.

Brook’s needed the assistance to prey on these women he raped, because he had suffered a stroke in 2008, making him look very frail, and fragile.

It is being reported that his health had been deteriorating while awaiting trial…but what is more than likely is that his conscience was eating away at him, because he was anticipating a bad outcome in his trial, based on the testimony by his victims,and the insurmountable mountain of evidence the prosecutors had collected in order to convict him of his sexual assault crimes.(NY Post)
