Jose Lima,37,Former Major League Baseball All-Star Pitcher,Dead Today From A Heart Attack…Fans Shocked!!!

Breaking News- Jose Lima, who pitched in the Major Leagues for 13 seasons, has died of a heart attack. He was 37. He died while sleeping after complaining while he was sleeping, and his wife, Dorca Astacio, just thought he was having a bad nightmare.(WIKI)

After realizing something was seriously wrong with Jose, Dorca called the paramedics, who after trying to resuscitate Jose, pronounced him to be dead at the scene.(SOURCE)

Aguilas Cibaenas team president Winston Llenas , a winter ball team that Lima had played for in the Dominican Republic,said…”Lima was an exceptional man. This is a great loss for Dominican baseball and the country”…

According to Llenas, Lima was not experiencing any health problems prior to the heart attack.(SOURCE)

Lima was 89-102 in 13 seasons with the Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets.

He was selected to the All-Star Game with Houston in 1999, when he won a career-high 21 games.

Lima didn’t return to the major leagues after being released by the Mets in 2006, when he went 0-4 in four games pitched.(SOURCE)

In 2004, Jose played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, where the Dominican-born right-hander endeared himself to the L.A. fans when he sang the National Anthem prior to a home game at Dodger Stadium in 2004 and performed with his band at the Dodgers’ annual Viva Los Dodgers celebration.

In the National League Division Series that year, Lima pitched a complete game, five-hit shutout in Game 3 at Dodger Stadium, giving the team its first postseason victory since 1988.(SOURCE)

He had recently rejoined the Dodger’s organization within the past month, and was preparing to set-up some youth outreach programs for the children of Los Angeles.

Dodgers owner Frank McCourt spoke highly of Lima in a statement released by the team on Sunday:

“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the tragic loss of Jose Lima. Though he was taken from us way too soon, he truly lived his life to the fullest and his personality was simply unforgettable”…
