Shiloh Pepin Little Mermaid Girl dies at age 10

Shiloh Pepin, who gained fame as the little Mermaid Girl, died yesterday at Maine Medical Center, Friday October 23rd, at the age of 10. She was called the Mermaid Girl because she was born with a rare condition that left her legs fused together.

It is called the mermaid syndrome” or sirenomelia.

Shiloh’s story  touched the nation since the release of a special documentary about her.She passed away at the age of 10. Recently, she appeared in two TV specials on TLC and on “Oprah”Sept. 22.

The AP is reporting that Shiloh’s mother, Leslie, said earlier this month Shiloh came down with a cold that quickly turned to pneumonia. She was rushed to Maine Medical Center on Oct. 10. As bacteria swept through her body the doctors quickly placed Shiloh on antibiotics and a ventilator.

Despite medicine and the ventilator she was strapped to, she didn’t pull through.

Shiloh was only predicted at her birth to survive but a few days. Doctors gave no hope to her mother, but 10 years later Shiloh beat all the odds. Her mother commented about her daughter “She was a tough little thing”.

It is very rare for someone to survive as long as Shiloh did.

Shiloh had become an inspiration for many as she faced her disease with a very upbeat,well-adjusted manner.

She will be missed, but she will never be forgotten.

  1. Exactly one day shy of her 11th birthday, Craig Pepin became a hero! Craig is related to Shiloh, but extremely distant cousin!

  2. Some people would have said to Shiloh, a brave girl of French-Canadian origin, “We love you, Frenchie!”

  3. I watched a documentary on here, not too long ago, and that little girl took my heart. What a beautiful spirit she had!! Truly one of God’s Angels. Rest in ppeace, little one.

  4. I just think this sweet little girl was such a wonderful insperation “. This little girl had more of a love for life at age 10 or even before than more of us can ever have throughout their lifetime. Just live every day as though this little girl day, like every day is our last. I know i will.

    I Feel So Sad 😦
She Was So Cute And Sweet.
May God Shower His Blessings Upon Her In Heaven.
    May She REST IN PEACE.
Although I Wanted To Say This Too, I Don’t Mean To Be Disrespectful, But I Got To Say, She’s In A Better Place Now, (In Heaven) At Least She Isn’t Suffering Any more ;(
Poor Girl, She Was Is Only A Year Younger Than Me When She Died 😦

  6. She has a beautiful soul

  7. I just saw a video on youtube and I am inspired!!!!! Her parents are AMAZING people!!!!! God b;ess them and Shiloh, God’s angel!!!!!

  8. God bless her mother and father. She seemed like
the sweetest little girl. She just shows if she can do
it, why can’t I? But her soul still lives in others.
    😦 ):

  9. I have been following Shiloh’s story for 2 years and did a report today on inspiring people. I choose Shiloh as the subject for my paper as I found her to be so very inspiring. She inspired me and made me realize that life is short and that everyone should always appreciate and live there life to the fullest. I didnt know until today that Shiloh had passed away. I am very sad to hear that she is no longer with us. Perhaps she has joined the other beautiful mermaids of the oceans of the after life. She will for ever remain in my memory and heart.
