Legendary saxophonist Clarence Clemons,69, a main long time member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, suffered a massive stroke at his home in Florida over the weekend, and has reportedly undergone two brain surgeries during the weekend,in order to save his life.(TMZ)

According to a Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band fan website, he is said to be…”responsive and in stable condition,”and his nephew, saxophonist Jake Clemons, said on Facebook…”Please do not lose Hope!”(Facebook Fan Page)
A close friend of Clemons’ reported that…After two subsequent brain surgeries at a Florida hospital, the good news is that Clarence is currently responsive and in stable condition, though still in a fight for his life. “If anyone can pull off the miracle, it’s him,”….“He’s fought back from so much before.“(Source)
Clemons, affectionately known as the ‘Big Man’, has been a founding member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band since it was formed in 1972, and has been done solo albums with the band, as well as his own recordings as well.(Source)
He has played his magical sax in solos and leads on many classic Bruce Springsteen recordings, like the hit “Born To Run”, where it became clear to the world, that he was a defining element to what made Springsteen’s music such memorable hits with his signature saxophone sound.(HuffPo)
…it would be hard to imagine the group without him.
Recently,although the E Street Band is currently on hiatus, Clemons has continued to perform on his own, occasionally, and has been in the news lately after performing on Lady Gaga’s new album, “Born This Way.”
Just last month, he performed with Lady Gaga on the season finale of “American Idol”.
Lady Gaga Tweeted the following message upon hearing the news about Clemons’ stroke:

Over the last decade, Clemons has suffered a variety of medical ailments requiring surgery and he had double knee surgery which required him to perform from a wheelchair at one point.
He hasn’t missed any concerts, but the conditions caused him to suffer a tremendous amount of pain and discomfort. (Rolling Stone)
