Jilted Bride In China Attempts Suicide…Rescued From A 7-Story Ledge Perched Outside A Skyscraper(Video)
The pictures are very dramatic….(CBS)
A distraught young bride to be , 22-year-old Li Mou of Jilin province, was dramatically rescued from certain death, by a brave group of rescuers, after the disturbed young woman attempted to commit suicide by jumping out of a window on the 7th story of a skyscraper in a building in Changchun city in northeastern China’s Jilin province. Apparently, the young bride to be became distraught when her boyfriend of four years Wang Mou ,got cold feet and decided to call of the wedding, and break up with her, even though their wedding was fast approaching.(NY Post)
….it happen’s to young people sometimes, and it’s best to find out before the marriage, rather than after,so although that’s a hard and awkward discussion to have with your fiance,it is not unreasonable.(Source)
How the young women handled it, was very unreasonable, and sad.
Upon hearing the news from her now ex-boyfriend, Li, cut her wrists and tried to commit suicide. After that attempt, she climbed out onto a ledge on the 7th-story, and she began sitting and crying on a 7th floor window ledge of her apartment building, ignoring pleas by her family and friend’s to come back inside and to calm down.(Source)
A local rescue worker, Guo Zhongfan, spent 40 minutes talking with the young lady, trying to convince her to come inside, when she suddenly pushed off from the ledge, beginning to fall.(Source)
He miraculously reached out and grabbed her around her neck and shoulders, then he pulled her into safety!
Another rescuer on the 6th floor had grabbed her feet holding on to her for the 54 seconds that she was suspended in the air, before she was pulled in.(Source)

She was whisked away to a hospital for observation, although she was not injured at all in the incident.
Her ex-fiance has not been available to make a statement.
This is quite an over-reaction, but with all the stress involved and emotions that had been dashed when the boyfriend backed out of the marriage,I am pretty sure she became overwhelmed.(Photos)
The boyfriend is not the culprit here, although it had to be difficult for him to break the news to an obviously sensitive, and emotionally fragile young lady.(Source)
Let’s wish the both of them luck in the future….
You’re terrible and inconsiderate.
“The boyfriend is not the culprit here, although it had to be difficult for him to break the news to an obviously sensitive, and emotionally fragile young lady.”
Seriously? What the heck is wrong with you? You’re, clearly, not human.

I’m a woman and I agree with Jerry. The boyfriend is not the culprit, although his actions were awful (leading her on like that) he obviously only decided he couldn’t be with her then, and so had to tell her that. What was he suppose to do? Go ahead with the marriage and be unhappy? The cuplrit here is mental illness.

so wrong, you are so wrong…he married another girl days before their wedding. Her pain breaks my heart. How dare you people minimalize that? How dare you chalk i up to mental illness or cal it a over-reaction as if either of those make it any less real. deplorable..

You are missing some important aspects of this event (as were the AP reporters). The Chinese culture places great shame on a woman in this situation. There would be much pressure on her from her family and her community to find a good husband, and by failing to do this, she was failing her family. Her actions are the result of a bigger cultural picture that Western culture does not understand very well.
