The Bronx Zoo Captures Deadly Escaped Egyptian Cobra!!!…It Never Left The reptile House!
All New Yorker’s today can breathe a sigh of relief because the saga of the deadly Egyptian Cobra, who escaped from the Bronx Zoo this past weekend, has been captured, six days from the time it went missing.(NPR)
The poisonous and aggressively mad reptile was spotted coiled in a corner around 9 a.m., during one of three daily sweeps by a half-dozen zoo workers.(Source)
Jim Breheny, the zoo’s director,reports …”We found our snake and we’re very happy”…
Breheny said the cobra had sought a secure hiding spot within the holding areas of the zoo’s reptile house, and was unharmed.(CNN)
The missing snake has amassed a large and loyal fan club of followers on-line on her very own Twitter page.
After launching on Monday, the anonymous @BronxZoosCobra Twitter feed had amassed nearly 200,000 followers by 6 p.m. Thursday.(MSNBC)

Breheny said zoo staff worked hard to create the right environment to make the snake as comfortable , and recoverable as possible, utilizing dim lights, low sounds, and an abundance of wood shavings that carried the scent of mice and rats.(HuffPo)
Once zoo officials are certain the snake is fine and ready for visitors, the zoo will reopen the reptile house to the public,possibly by “next weekend,” Breheny said.(National Post)
