U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Christopher Lee, R-N.Y,46,who has represented the western New York 26th Congressional District for the past two years, resigned his seat Wednesday, after a shirtless photo of himself that he had texted to an unknown women,surfaced today after being plastered all over the gossip site Gawker.

This is how he got caught…Lee responded to an ad from a 34-year-old woman posted in the “Women for Men” section of Craigslist in January. The woman said she was seeking “financially & emotionally secure” men who don’t “look like toads.”(Source)

Rep.Lee apparently responded to the ad claiming to be a divorced, 39-year-old lobbyist who described himself as a “fit fun classy guy.” He sent the woman  two sexy photographs of himself, including one in which he is shirtless and showing of his man-sexy physique.(WSJ)

When the woman discovered that Lee is actually married, 46 years old and a member of Congress, she sent the correspondence and pictures to Gawker.(CBS)

Unlike gay Republican senator Larry Craig, at least Chris Lee had the decency to resign his position in public office…so he can assume whatever position he likes, as a perverted private citizen.

Rep.Lee sent in his resignation only hours after the news of the shirtless photo surfaced, and he left this message on his website:

“It has been a tremendous honor to serve the people of Western New York. I regret the harm that my actions have caused my family, my staff and my constituents. I deeply and sincerely apologize to them all. I have made profound mistakes and I promise to work as hard as I can to seek their forgiveness.

“The challenges we face in Western New York and across the country are too serious for me to allow this distraction to continue, and so I am announcing that I have resigned my seat in Congress effective immediately.”(Source)

First, however, his office reacted like typical Republicans and lied about the authenticity of the photos, and claimed his email account had been hacked, in an attempt to mount a cover-up – which didn’t really explain the topless photo of himself flexing his biceps in a mirror.(Time)
