Both of the slain teens are reported to have been very popular, and that there was no signs of any problems going on in the family. By all reports from neighbors and friends, they were very pleasant to be around.(AJC)

The two teens were described as well-mannered by family friends. In several family portraits on Parker Schenecker’s Facebook page, the four posed, smiling and relaxed.

As a sophomore at King High School in Tampa, Calyx Powers Schenecker was skilled in athletics, focusing her energy on cross-country running. Her brother, 13 year-old Beau Schenecker, was in 8th grade at Liberty Middle School, and enjoyed soccer.(Source)

Both had been shot with a .38-caliber pistol that police believe had been bought five days earlier, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Police were called to the house after Schenecker’s mother called from Texas to express concern about her daughter’s welfare, saying she was depressed, a police statement said.(CNN)

The killer mom’s husband, Col. Parker Schenecker, is a career Army officer attached to U.S. Central Command in Tampa. He was working in the Middle East when the shootings happened.

She stated that she had gotten tired of dealing with her ‘back-talking’ ,’mouthy’, disrespectful teenagers, and just wanted them dead.

…obviously that was an over reaction if it were actually the case…I think that her problem is that she snapped mentally, and she is probably insane….
