German Zoo Devastated By Fire!!!…26 Animals Killed In Catastrophic Blaze!!!
A fire at a German Zoo in the city of Karlsruhe, has taken the lives of 26 captive animals, most of them residing in the petting zoo section of the public zoo.

The zoo keepers where successful in moving the popular tigers, lions elephants, flamingos and hippopotamuses,to safety, but the sheep, ponies, goats and llamas in the petting section of the zoo,perished.(VIDEO)
One elephant was injured in the blaze, but not severely.

The zoo’s director, Gisela von Hegel, said that when she was called out, she could see that the petting zoo buildings were engulfed in flames.

“There was no possibility to rescue the animals from there because the roof had already collapsed, so it would have been too dangerous.(BBC)
So the decision was made to spend the precious time they had left to rescue the other animals.
Around a hundred fire fighters were at the zoo and managed to prevent the blaze from spreading but were still working on extinguishing it on Saturday morning.
Investigators are yet to determine the cause of the fire, which has caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage to the zoo’s facilities.(Source)
It is being reported that the animals that were rescued, were doing fine, just a bit rattled by their harrowing experience.
The Zoo was open for business by Sunday morning….
