Minneapolis Underground Battle Rapper/Singer-Lyricist ‘Eyedea’ aka Michael Larsen Dead At 28…His Body Was Found Unresponsive By His Mother.

Freestyle battle champion and underground rapper Michael ‘Eyedea’ Larsen,28, who was well-known for his skills in the Minnesota Twin city area,was found dead this morning by his mother, Kathy Averill.(Source)

The cause of Eyedea’s death is still unknown pending the results of an autopsy, ad the release of the news to the public.

Eyedea, was only 17 years old when he took on P.E.A.C.E. from Freestyle Fellowship in the Scribble Jam freestyle battle. Eyedea was victorious, and a new star was born.(Source)

Eyedea was a month away from celebrating his 29th birthday on November 9, and he was born in the year of 1981.

His mother Kathy Averill announced the news of her son’s death by posting the following message on Facebook, …”It is with great pain and sadness that I tell you my son Mikey (Eyedea) has passed away. At this time we kindly request your respect and our privacy as we process this devastating loss”…

His notable wins included the televised Blaze Battle sponsored by HBO (2000) and a victory at Scribble Jam (1999). He had appeared as a solo artist, and as the emcee half of the duo Eyedea & Abilities (along with longtime friend and collaborator DJ Abilities). His non-battle rhymes were generally philosophically or thematically based, and often told a definite narrative.(WIKI)

I am certain that as the family comes to grips with the reality of the passing of Eyedea, they will announce news about his memorial service, but none has been posted at this time.

Eyedea was an icon of the indy underground music scene, and at 28, he was much too young to die,he had a lot left to say here on earth. Unfortunetly,we will all be left to wonder what if...but,we all can celebrate what he laid down on wax while he was here walking among us.

Rest in Peace Michael Eyedea Larsen…you will be missed!
