Breaking News- Baltimore police are reporting that a man shot a doctor and then barricaded himself inside a room at Johns Hopkins hospital, where he remained holed up two hours after the shooting Thursday, police said.(SOURCE)
Johns Hopkins Medical Campus was the scene of a shooting,murder and suicide today...
The suspect barricaded himself in a room with his mother which is located on the 8th floor, police reported.
The identity of the doctor,who was shot in the stomach, has not been confirmed, but police said that his injuries are not life-threatening. “The doctor is going to be OK,” said police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.(ABC)
A spokesman for Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore earlier said the gunman had been caught, but a spokesman says that’s was not the case.
Officer Guglielmi also went on to report that the hospital is open for business, and that the shooter has only caused them to close up one floor of the vast hospital.(Baltimore Sun)

He also reports that the victim, the doctor,was rushed into surgery, and that if he had to be shot, he could not have been in a better place than the esteemed hospital for this to happen.
The police were unsure of what the gunman was demanding, if anything,but the murder-suicide has made it impossible at this time to figure out,pending further investigation what motivated the gunman to commit this crime.(SOURCE)

Detective Kevin Brown of the Baltimore police said shortly after noon that the gunman was “confined,” and surrounded by his fellow officers, and the decision was made to take him out,permanently, before he had a chance to kill or hurt anyone else, but the gunman ended own life saving them the trouble of having to do it for him.
Johns Hopkins Hospital is the largest private employer in Baltimore,and has more than 1,000 beds and 1,700 attending doctors, and treats nearly half a million patients a year.(WIKI)

The Baltimore SWAT team was called in to effectively take him down, if it was necessary.
The situation is over…but police are reporting that the gunman shot and killed himself and his sick relative during the standoff with authorities!!!(SOURCE)
The shooting took place on the eighth floor of the main hospital, the hospital said.
It was reported earlier, but is unconfirmed that the shooter, who was in an African-American man in his 30’s, was distraught over the deteriorating medical condition of his mother due to her spine surgery, which was performed at the Hospital.(SOURCE)

The dead gunman obviously acted in a very irrational manner, and as more information is investigated, I am sure we will find out that he had other mitigating factors that led him to act in such a reprehensible manner, because…
…killing the doctors that are treating your mothers spine,does not solve nor help out her situation.
It just makes it that much worst,given that he killed himself and his relative.(SOURCE)
