Jimena Navarrete is the second representative of Mexico to win the title, after Lupita Jones in 1991. Jimena is originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

Miss Jamaica Yendi Philipps was the first runner-up; Miss Australia Jesinta Campbell, Miss Ukraine Anna Poslavska and Miss Philippines Venus Raj — who was the online favorite — rounded out the top five.(SOURCE)

Sexy Miss Universe 2010 Jimena Navarrete...

Navarrete was the top scoring competitor in the evening gown component of the competition, and was the second-highest scorer in the swimsuit portion.(SOURCE)

The Miss Universe pageant was held tonight (Aug.23) live in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Casino and Resort,and was hosted by rocker Brett Michaels and newscaster Natalie Morales.

Jimena beat out some stiff competition, as she had to compete with 83 of the world’s most beautiful and stunning women,and the reality of it, is that they all were drop dead gorgeous, making her victory that much more impressive.

The Mexican beauty has stunned the pageant world, silencing the prognosticators,who had predicted that  the  winner would be a lovely young woman from Ireland, Venezuela or the United States. (SOURCE)

When asked during the interview portion of the show, Olympic gold medalist skater Evan Lysacek, asked her for her views on what to do about the problem of children using the Internet without proper supervision, and the thoughtful Jimena answered…”I do believe that the Internet is an indispensable, necessary tool for the present time,”….”We must be sure to teach them the values that we learned as a family.”

I like to believe that her answer, which exhibited her mental ability was the reason that Jimena won the title, but , even though Miss France,Miss Jamaica, and some of the other girls were working it in their bikinis, for sure,this evening…it’s just that Jimena looked the best in a bikini and high heels tonight on the runway.(Source)

I am happy for all my Mexican family and friends out there celebrating this victory tonight…I have always said that you can find some of the most beautiful women in the world walking around a lot of the cities and towns in Mexico, which has always been one of my favorite places to visit.
