Fantasia Barrino Heartbroken Over Sextape Accusation, Rushed To Hospital After Overdose

Former American Idol Winner Fantasia Barrino, 26, a single mom who won the popular TV singing contest in 2004, was hospitalized in North Carolina on Monday with a drug overdose,but is stable and is expected to be released soon, her manager said in a statement to the pioneering celebrity gossip blogTMZ.com.

Fantasia’s manager Brian Dickens, said in a statement Tuesday that she took an overdose of aspirin and a sleep aid, after she discovered during a media firestorm, that she had fallen in love with a married man,whose name is Antwuan Cook.

Monday,Paula Cook, the estranged wife of Fantasia’s love interest, Antwaun Cook,named Fantasia as a defendant in a divorce case  alleging that she was having an affair with Antwaun Cook, a married man. Last week, Cook’s wife Paula filed court documents that allege that her husband and Barrino began a “covert adulterous affair” in August 2009 and that the two made a sex tape, which led to the couple’s divorce. Barrino denied that she was responsible.(MTV)

Manager Dickens reports that Fantasia’s injuries are not life threatening.” She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time. Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon.”

“Fantasia read Mrs. Cook’s complaint against Mr. Cook for the first time yesterday,” says Dickens. “She knows some of the allegations in Mrs. Cook’s complaint are totally false. There are others she strongly doubts. There is plenty she does not know.”

While the manager did not directly address rumors of a sex tape, he did explain Barrino’s relationship with Cook.

“Fantasia and Mr. Cook dated on and off for about eleven months,” admitted Dickens in a statement. “Fantasia believed Mr. Cook when he told her he was not happy in his marriage and his heart was not in it… Fantasia fell in love with Mr. Cook and believed that he loved her.”(US Magazine)

Fantasia also may have realized that she lives in one of the states that will allow a jilted wife to sue her husband’s mistress with an “Alienation of Affection” lawsuit.

Alienation of Affection is a civil lawsuit brought against a third-party,general a mistress, that punishes the third-party for conduct and behavior that resulted in a partner in a marriage to not be available to provide the love and companionship that the two had shared together, and would continue to have, if not for the interference and actions of the third-party perpetrator.(Source)

Alienation has not been recognized in the majority of state’s ever since 1935,when it was abolished in 42 states, however, it is still recognized in Hawaii, Illinois, North Carolina, Mississippi, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Utah.(Video)

Why Nancy Grace felt the need to badger ,bully and out Fantasia like that on her show, which usually deals with actual crimes,child murders, and serious cases like that,..it was confusing and very strange for her to all sudden turn into an extension of that same networks celebrity news program Showbiz Tonight!

It seemed rather personal,almost like Barrino had been having an affair with her husband!It was disgraceful, and Nancy needs to be ashamed of herself,this lowered the stature of her show.

I wish Fantasia well, and I want her to know that there will be better days ahead.
