2 Killed, 50 People Injured In A Horrible Deadly Bus Crash With A Tractor Trailer
Breaking News-The media is reporting that at least two people are dead and as many as 50 people have been injured in an accident involving two school buses and a tractor-trailer near St. Louis.(ABC)
The accident happened on eastbound I-44. Authorities say that at least one of the victims is a child.
Jorma Duran, a spokesman for the Missouri Department of Transportation, said the wreck happened between 10:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at mile marker 250 of I-44(CNN)
The crash involves two school buses and a tractor-trailer. There is also a car wedged under a school bus. The buses were full of 8th grade students from St. James, Missouri. These were band students headed to Six Flags.(SOURCE)
Children were among the victims taken away on stretchers at the scene of the crash
36 children have been rushed to the hospital emergency room at Cardinal Glennon Hospital near the Gray Summit,MO. crash scene,but none of the injuries appear to be life threatening.The scene broadcast of kids being carried away on stretchers has to be disturbing for the parents to watch.
Two people are being taken to St. Clair Hospital in Fenton, four people are being taken to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur, and five people are being taken to St. John’s Hospital in Washington.
The buses were full of 8th grade students from St. James, Missouri St. James High School . These were band students headed to Six Flags amusement park on a field trip. The park is about 10 miles from the crash scene.
Footage of the scene showed ladders leaning into bus windows. One bus was perched atop the trailer cab.(SOURCE)
It is unknown at this time how the accident happened,or if the extent of the injuries to the occupants of the car, which is totally squashed under the bus and tractor-trailer.
