Robert Freeman,13,shot 22 times while riding bike in Chicago's south side...

Robert Freeman’s life was cut-short last night in what can only be described as a random act of senseless and inhuman violence.(SOURCE)

Robert Freeman,13, was riding his bicycle in the 11500 block of South Perry Avenue about 8 p.m., when a gunman “jumped out from a gangway and started firing, and Robert was the only one to go down.(HUFFPO)

As the crowd scattered, the masked gunman calmly walked toward Robert, stood over his body and continued to fire multiple bullets into the body of Robert.

A black child riding a bike just like Robert when he was shot 22 times...

Little Robert was shot 22 times, and he died two hours later in the emergency room at  Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, while undergoing surgery to save his life.

The gunman was wearing a mask, and initially was shooting randomly into the crowd.

Family members believe the gunman thought Freeman was someone else, and suspect it was a sad case of mistaken identity.(SOURCE)

“My brother was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” said Freeman’s older sister, Cierra Milton.

Witnesses told Freeman’s family he and some friends were hanging out by a car, when another teen threatened them.

“He came through the gangway. He told them don’t be right there when he come back,” explained Freeman’s mother.

Witnesses say a short time later, the teen came back wearing a mask and opened fire.

“Just a lot of shots, 30-40 shots. It’s bad,” said one neighbor who didn’t want to be identified.

One of Freeman’s friends ran to get his mother. She rushed to his side.(SOURCE)

By all accounts, Robert was a positive a good child, who was not into getting into trouble at all.

The teen was expected to begin eighth grade at Oglesby Elementary School this fall. He had been living in the neighborhood for three months and was mowing lawns to make money.(NBC)

This is yet another death of a teen in Chicago, following the tragic beating death of student Derrion Albert, who was beat to death by a gang of teens who were fighting, and at the time, Eric Holder and many community and national Civil Rights leaders vowed to work to stop the senseless killing of black youths in the streets of Chicago.

The death of Robert Freeman highlights the fact that there is still a lot of work to be done in Chicago, so our youth do not end up loosing there lives while they are outside playing like children should do,….and end up in the wrong place at the wrong time.
