Over 160 Feared Dead In Plane Crash In Air India Flight…There Are Believed To Be Only A Few Survivors…
More than 160 people were killed when an Air India plane crashed Saturday as it came in to land in the southern Indian city of Mangalore on a flight from Dubai.
This crashed Air India plane was a Boeing 737 about five or six years old, was cleared for landing and the problems appear to have surfaced once it was on the ground.(SOURCE)
Mangalore deputy police commissioner R. Ramesh said the plane, a Boeing 737 believed to be carrying 160 passengers and six crew, crashed at around 6:30am local time after overshooting the runway.
“All are dead. There is no doubt about it,” Ramesh said from the crash site.(SOURCE)
The tentative figures have now put the number of deceased at 137 adult passengers, 23 children and six crew members. Many of the bodies are charred beyond recognition. The fire has been extinguished now, and smoke is smouldering from the aircraft.

Air India had debt of 152 billion rupees ($3.3 billion) as of June, according to the government. It may post a loss of 54 billion rupees in the fiscal year ended in March compared with a loss of last year, according to Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel.(SOURCE)
