John Arnett, Convicted Child Molester Strangled In Prison.
The Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting that convicted child molester John Arnett,27, was found strangled to death in his prison cell last Thursday.

John Arnett was manually choked to death on Wednesday evening,according to Coroner Bill Watson, by fellow inmate Anthony Rogers, who is serving a life sentence for a 1997 Murder in Savannah.

Roger’s is serving multiple life sentences for his earlier crimes, including murder, so this is just another case that will possibly net him another life sentence.
Oh well…I abhor murder and murderers,…but under these circumstances that are reminiscent of the death of serial killer Jeffery Dahmer in prison,…Anthony Rogers did what the system was unable to do…

The Valdosta State Prison in Georgia, has dealt with three cases in the last four months, where arguments between inmates have caused serious injury.
The deceased, John Arnett, was serving time for multiple child molestation charges.

My daughter was the child violated in Bartow County Georgia. My husband is a pastor of a church in White, Georgia, where we met John Arnett. Our family took him into our home on many occassions for Bible Study, Children’s birthday parties, and youth events. We never once suspected his motives of interest in our 4 year old daughter.
It was April of 2008 when my daughter spoke up. We were teaching her and her older brother the concepts of “good touch, bad touch.” She innocently asked her daddy if he remembered “big john.” Upon clarification and her pointing to his house as we drove by she continued with “why did he touch me around my panties if that is ‘bad touch’?…Needless to say…upon further investigations there were determined to be 3 occassions where he inappropriately touched her.
In Sept of 2008 court started. We had to report to Appling County as a witness of similar tranasaction. He was charged with 6 counts of child molestation & 6 counts of aggrevated child molestation in Appling County. A total of 5 children were involved in the Appling County case.
In November of 2008, Mr. Arnett appeared in Bartow County Court to plea guilty for the 3 charges of child molestation of my daughter.
Because all occurances happened before July 2006 he was only allowed sentancing of 10 years for the 1st offense and 15 years for each additional charge. If the charges would have been after July 2006 the charges would have been life in prison.
Your question was “Do I feel sorry for him?” Well… i’ve pondered this all afternoon. How do I feel? I am composed of many mixed emotions today. Relief? Comfort? Heartache? He was someone’s son, brother, friend… but… he violated MY child. He broke MY trust… do I dare say… Justice WAS served? The Lord does say “Vengence is mine”… so was this His plan?

I appreciate your comment here, and I commend you for surviving this,I am sure is not the type of thing that one can easily move on from.
Personally, this would have me questioning my faith, at a time when it is needed the most…
I don’t have any sympathy for a child molester,…but his fate as all of ours, is left in the hands of the Lord, and I can not question the will of God.

He was convicted, so that is a fact.
I understand no one wants to accept the fact that their relative was a child molester.
Sorry for your surviving family,but my opinions and comments are based on his child molestation conviction,which is why he was in prison.

ok it’s’ called a “verdict,” not a “fact”
and it always surprises me how many good christians support capital punishment… I know it seems like these hardcore, repeat offender child molesters are incurable, but chemical castration has been very successful in the Czech Republic, it’s sometimes performed on sex offenders after their prison term and has significantly lowered the rate of recidivism. Many of them have volunteered for the procedure and a surprising amount of those who had it forced on them are happy with the result. Many of these guys were victims to begin with so although I agree, they need to be locked up forever if they can’t be cured, but if there is a chance to develop a way to change them permanently, why not? Molesting a child does not make them deserve death. This guy never killed a child, I don’t understand why you can applaud his murder and say the state should have killed him anyway. If that becomes the predominant attitude and prison just becomes a place where sex offenders go to get murdered (though it pretty much is already), they might just start killing their victim/witnesses.

I am sorry to hear that about your daughter, and I think that States take it to easy on child molstors. I don’t agree with killing someone whether it be an inmate or the prison by capital punishment. I think they should get life in prison without parole. At least that way they can be haunted by all the immoral things they have done. Once again I am sorry to hear that about your baby. My prayers are with you and your family because I know that will leave a big scare.

My goodness, Lisa! What a tremendous burden it must be for you to grapple with the various moral dilemmas that such a situation as this presents. I am terribly sorry for you, for your daughter, for the betrayal of trust that your family must surely feel as a consequence of extending the love of God to this man, John. I cannot condone murder, of course. I cannot say that it was God’s will that such a fate should wait for Mr. Arnett. The Bible says that God would have all men to come to repentance and be saved…and when a life is cut short, there is, of course, a concern that the soul of such a man was never given an opportunity at redemption. But, this is a lesson for the rest of us not to pass up the opportunities we have each day.
Lisa, I would like you to know that I am a registered sex offender. I make this disclosure because I believe it’s important to keep everything in context. Many are the people who would rush to judge me as a “child molester” without ever knowing the slightest thing about the circumstances that placed me on the registry. I was convicted of an internet solicitation charge which involved a police officer pretending to be a rather eager teenager. I am ashamed of my actions and I’ve paid a hefty price for them. My life is more-or-less over….and, yet, I’ve never actually harmed a soul. Nevertheless, there are many people who would never take the time (or even have the interest) to ask me why I’m a registered sex offender. They would simply rest easy in thinking that they had helped the world out, in some odd way, by ending my life. I live in constant fear of such a fate for myself. And, I don’t think I need to tell you how tragic and undeserved that would be.
So, in attempting to find the peace that you seek…and that you need…over the fate of Mr. Arnett, please know that I am with you in spirit. Men like him are hard to forgive, and perhaps only God has the capacity to offer that level of forgiveness. At the same time, pray for the soul of the murderer….because God has never approved anyone to be a judge, save His one and only Son. There’s a great price to be paid when any man plays God. And, please pray for the countless number of sex offenders, like myself, who have committed far less serious offenses than Mr. Arnett, but who are scorned and ridiculed as if we had done the exact same thing.

He was convicted, and my opinion is based on the judgement that he received from a jury of his peers, so I will go with that.
Your story is not a fact, and if you think it is then it is your families duty
to clear his name in a court of law…no excuses.
He molested Lisa’s daughter, and that is why his fate was doomed.
If you ever can clear his name legally, then I will retract my statements,but as for now,he died a convicted child molester.

I bet you’d still be singing this tune even if you walked in on him in the act of raping a child… Just like the Vatican with their pedophile priests.

A very similar incedent occured to my 3 year old daughter. A friend of ours helped set up a facebook page for us and i urge people to at least take a look its new and small but we hope to get the ball rolling on this.

Anthony Rogers brutally murdered my mother in 1997. I was 11 years old and my brother was 4. I am sorry sorry for all of the families involved. My prayers are with everyone.

I almost feel like I’m in a dream. This is my third attempt at a response and although I’m finding it very difficult I feel very compelled to write SOMETHING. My mother was married to Johns father Terry for five years. Living in that house was HELL. The man was a monster. I had always wondered what had become of my step brothers but have to say that I am not at all surprised to hear this. Its a very sad day for me. Not because of the loss of John’s life, but for the loss of innocence in so many others. I can only pray that the cycle ends now. My prayers will stay with the victims and their families. I am 31 now and have a very beautiful family of my own. Although the memories are still there, they don’t define who I am.
