“SURVIVOR PALAU” Finalist Jennifer Lyon Dead At 37 From Breast Cancer

“SURVIVOR 5:PALAU” finalist Jennifer Lyon died at her home in Oregon, from a long battle with breast cancer.

According to People Magazine, Lyon was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer after exiting “Survivor” in 2005, where she finished fourth in the reality contest. She underwent a bilateral mastectomy and underwent chemotherapy.

Jennifer had beaten her cancer  into remission once, but then it came back and was in her bones.

Lyon had opted to get a modified, radical bilateral mastectomy in the summer of 2005, removing both breasts and 29 lymph nodes.

Lyon had made the following statement about her diagnosis…“At the time I noticed the lumps I didn’t have insurance, which was a big part of why I didn’t get it checked immediately. I went on the Internet and thought, ‘It is scar tissue. No big deal,'” she wrote at the time.

“But a year later, I felt another lump right in the center of the breast and something in my right armpit. I saw a surgeon who said, ‘I’m pretty sure you have breast cancer.’ After a mammogram, an ultrasound and a biopsy, it was confirmed — stage III.”
