Reid to Obama: Sorry for ‘no Negro Dialect’ Remark

The AP is reporting via YouTube that…Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid apologized on Saturday for saying Barack Obama should seek and could win the White House because Obama was a “light-skinned” African-American “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.”

My question is…”What is Negro dialect?”…and who says “Negro” anymore!

I like Senator Harry Reid so this misstep will not change that, and I commend him for his public apology.

I know that the election of our first African-American President has changed a lot of our past perceptions on race and racism, and no man is beyond making a mistake.

I am glad that this did not cost him his senate seat, and I think that when these types of things happen , Democrat or Republican, instead of firing the offender, forgiveness should be extended to them, and that would be more powerful of as lesson than to displace a person from their livelihood.

Read the opposing view here…there are always two sides to consider….
