Grandmother Drowns 5 Year Old Grandson,To Save Him From Growing Up In A Broken Home…

Drowning grandmother- Marianne Bordt

Drowning grandmother- Marianne Bordt

I was researching articles for my earlier blog today about spanking a child, and I happened to read this story about a grandmother vacationing in Florida, that drowned her 5-year-old grandson because her daughter and son-in-law had decided to get a divorce.

If given a choice between spanking and drowning (murder), I would say stick with the spanking, but this story does highlight the problem with physically punishing a child. A lot of the adults can not be trusted to practice common sense and restraint.

This poor women is obviously deluded, and should not have been left to supervise this child, or any child, and now an innocent little life has been extinguished.

The AP is reporting that...A 71-year-old German woman drowned her 5-year-old grandson in a bathtub while they were vacationing in the Florida Panhandle because she didn’t want to see the boy grow up in a divorced home, authorities said Tuesday.

The grandmother, Marianne Bordt, tried to commit suicide after the drowning Monday by wading into the Gulf of Mexico wearing heavy clothes, authorities said. Bordt, of Nufringen, Germany, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Camden Hiers at a condominium on St. George Island, about 60 miles southwest of Tallahassee.(SOURCE-http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/wire/sns-ap-us-fla-grandson-killed,0,5358266.story)

The grandmother attempted to drown herself in the ocean after she murdered her grandson, but was not able to kill herself as easily as she had killed her little grandson.

Marianne Bordt is being held without bond in Florida.

A first degree murder conviction is punishable by death or life without parole in the state of Florida.

It is predictable that her public defender will plead insanity in this case, because she is obviously insane.

By all reports available, little Camden was a well-adjusted, good child, who had a lot to live for.His mother and father loved him very much, even through the joint custody arrangement. It is not ideal, but a reality that in many cases is in the best interest of the child.

Camden’s mother reside’s in the Atlanta suburb of Roswell, Ga., and the father David Hiers, lives nearby and is on his way to Florida.

This is one of those stories that has broken me down into tears.

Hug your children, and if you are divorced, separated, or just dealing with baby mama drama, just commit yourself to doing whatever is positive and in the best interest of your child,….and most of all, protect them from ANYONE that may harm them.

I am sure this grandmother had exhibited irrational behavior in the past. You just do not kill your 5-year-old grandson for no good reason without showing signs that you are crazy.

After reading about this, I may need some counseling.

Rest in peace little Camden Hiers….I will keep you in my prayers.
