NFL and ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Alum Lawrence Taylor Arrested in Fla. Hit and Run Crash

This is being reported to us by new services in the Miami-Dade Florida area,former football star Lawrence Taylor has been released on bond following his arrest in a Miami-area traffic accident.

Lawrence Taylor was a fan favorite during his run as a competitor on  last season, season 8, of “Dancing with the Stars” with professional partner Edyta Sliwinska.

Last season of DWTS, he was the seventh celebrity eliminated out of 13 couples. Taylor and Sliwinska averaged about 20 points for 7 dances. Their lowest score was 16 for the cha-cha cha (to Edwin Starr’s “25 Miles”) and their highest was 21 for the waltz (to Journey’s “Open Arms”).

He did pretty well for a football star.Most of the NFL players fare well on the show, NFL great Emmitt Smith actually took home the DWTS trophy in Season 3, and fan favorite, the cuddly Warren Sapp, was one of the final two last season. The handsome Jason Taylor was among the final three in Season 6, and Jerry Rice competed on DWTS, making the final two.

Michael Irvin, this season’s competitor from the ranks of the NFL was eliminated last week,which was the seventh week of the current season. Judge Len Goodman said he was glad Irvin made it that far in the competition, calling his Foxtrot Monday night “brilliant.”

According to Miami-Dade County jail records, Taylor was charged Sunday with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, a second-degree misdemeanor. He was released on $500 bond later that night. It was not immediately clear if Taylor has an attorney.

A Florida Highway Patrol spokesman says Taylor was involved in a hit-and-run crash Sunday in Hialeah. Taylor told investigators he thought he had hit a guard rail. There were no injuries and troopers didn’t conduct a sobriety test.

Taylor is a former New York Giants linebacker. He was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 1999.
