Congratulations go out to multi-platinum recording artist and philanthropist Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute for the grand opening on Thursday for their Mary J. Blige Center for Women in Yonkers, New York.
The organization is dedicated to helping all women gain the confidence and skills they need to reach their full individual potential.
Here is a quote from their website about their mission….The Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now, Inc. (FFAWN) was created and funded in 2007 by recording artist Mary J. Blige and marketing pioneer Steve Stoute in order to use Mary’s personal story and success to inspire women from all walks of life to reach their individual potential.
Mary hopes to help these women overcome the difficulties they face in their lives and to provide them with the drive and confidence to pursue – and realize – their goals and dreams…
The new center in Yonkers will serve as a “one-stop shop” for women, making resources more accessible and more customized than they are now and allowing women it serves to gain access to services from which they would not otherwise benefit.
Every woman who seeks help at the Center will have access to a Serve Coordinator who will be able to guide her to resources that will fit her individual needs. The Center will also provide a forum where all nonprofits helping th women of Yonkers can come together to collaborate, communicate, and support both the women of community and one another.
The Mary J. Blige Center for Women in Yonkers will be the first of its kind, serving as a pilot program for what FFAWN hope will be many similar centers in communities in need across the country….(from the FFAWN.com website)
Way to help out your brothers and sisters here in the world Mary and Steve. I must commend you on this admirable effort, and I am sure that the effect it will have on the lives of the women of Yonkers will be profound.

I hope they do something like this for men eventually, but this is all great for women, and it is
a blessing that Mary and Steve are not selfish people…
